Web3 Developer: salary, work-study program and training

Developers are among the most sought-after professionals in the IT industry, and the shortage of developers has been going on for years. This trend is even more pronounced for Web3 developers, as this new profession requires specific skills that few professionals have yet acquired. In Paris, the average salary for a Web3 developer is €48,000 gross per year.

The Developer's missions

The job of a developer, whether Web3 or traditional, is to translate the requests of those they work with into lines of code. He/she writes and follows specifications to create computer programs, while ensuring the maintenance and evolution of these programs afterwards. His or her missions can be divided into 3 main areas:

1. Write or improve functional code.

2. Solve problems encountered by users of a site, decentralized application or blockchain.

3. Participate in the creation of technical specifications to establish the right specifications.

The skills of a Web3 developer

The rapidly expanding field of Web3 development requires a solid grounding in traditional programming. At the crossroads between traditional technology and innovation, a Web3 developer must master fundamental programming languages such as C++, HTML and Javascript. What sets Web3 apart is the addition of specialized skills in blockchain technology. Understanding blockchain architecture and the development of decentralized applications (dApps) becomes essential. Among the key skills, mastery of Solidity, a language specific to blockchain, is particularly valued.

In addition to technical skills, a Web3 developer needs to be a self-starter, taking an active interest in Web3-related developments and new technologies. It's also crucial to be able to communicate effectively about one's work, popularizing complex concepts to make them accessible to customers. This dual technical and communication skill is at the heart of success in this fast-growing profession, driven by the dynamic development of blockchain.

Solidity developer salary

Due to the novelty of the Web3 developer position and the lack of meaningful data, salaries are often based on those of conventional developers. However, it is plausible that the salary of a Web3 developer could be higher due to the specificity and growing demand for these skills.

Salaries vary according to the city where the developer works. In Paris, a Web3 developer on permanent contract can expect to earn an average of 48,305 euros. Outside Paris, in cities such as Lyon, Montpellier, Marseille and Toulouse, a Web3 developer can expect to earn an average of 39,200 euros.

As far as work-study is concerned, the average salary for a Web3 developer in Paris is 1,361 euros per month. In other major cities such as Lyon, Marseille and others, there's little information on this subject, but if we follow the remuneration of CDIs, we can assume that it will be slightly lower than that of a web3 developer alternating in Paris.

Training

In France, a number of schools offer specialized training in Web3 and blockchain. Schools such as École 42, ESILV (École Supérieure d'Ingénieurs Léonard de Vinci) and Epitech offer programs dedicated to these emerging technologies. These courses cover both the theoretical and practical aspects of blockchain development, preparing students for a career in this innovative sector.

An inspiring Web3 developer

Gavin Wood is one of the co-founders of the Ethereum blockchain. He proposed and helped develop the Solidity programming language which has become one of the most important languages for Web3 development. He has founded or co-founded various other companies related to the Web3 sector.

Web3 developer, a profession that makes sense

In a constantly evolving digital world, the role of a Web3 developer goes beyond simple programming. This profession is part of an approach that aims to redefine our relationship with technology, by placing ethics and user control at the heart of innovations. Ensuring that users have greater control over their data, promoting greater transparency and reinforcing confidentiality are not simply technical objectives, but ethical commitments that give profound meaning to the profession.

The Web3 developer is not just a technician of blockchain and decentralized applications; he or she is also a key player in the creation of a fairer, more secure Internet. By implementing systems where trust is distributed rather than centralized, the Web3 developer contributes to a digital model that is more democratic and respectful of the individual.

This profession is aimed at those who seek to align their technical skills with their values. It attracts professionals who are passionate about technological innovation, but also concerned about the societal impact of their work. Working as a Web3 developer means choosing a field where every line of code can contribute to positive change, and where the human and ethical aspects of technology take on their full meaning.

From this perspective, the Web3 developer profession corresponds to a vision of work where we don't just meet functional needs, but actively contribute to shaping a fairer, more transparent digital environment. It's a career choice for those who aspire to put their skills at the service of a digital future that respects and values user privacy and autonomy, while paving the way for technological innovations that shape our daily lives.
